Development of the Vannsimpco Leadership Survey: A delination of hybrid leadership styles

The study of leadership is often attempted from various disciplinary perspectives; studies, therefore, mimic the limited interests and leadership styles delineated by scholars working in business, education, community development, and sociological fields. instruments like the commonly used Multifactor leadership Questionnaire (MlQ) also tend to be written from a supervisor’s viewpoint, which limits their utility as a tool for comparing perceptions of subordinates to those of their supervisors. Because of those limitations, a more versatile bi-lateral instrument with blended leadership styles was developed. The instrument is titled the Vannsimpco leadership Survey (VlS). The rationale for its development and a discussion on its validation are included in the pages that lie ahead. also, the results of the reliability test on the VlS are reported. a pearson’ product Moment correlation r produced a significant result, (r[108] = .91, p < .001).
